Congratulations to Yingchun Bai for accepting an Assistant Professorship (Tenure Track) at Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT).  We wish Yingchun the best of luck in his new exciting career!

Congratulations to Dr. Kim, who received the Silver Wrench Award for the 2016-2017 academic year.  This award recognizes the professor who displays the most interest and enthusiasm towards Mechanical Engineering as chosen by the graduating year.

Congratulations to Dr. Il Yong Kim for his outstanding collaborative research work over the past year.  The Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science has recognized him with a 2016 Research Excellence Award.

Congratulations to Stephen Roper for being awarded the 2017 Brass Wrench.  Voted on by the graduating class, this award is given to the T.A. in the department of Mechanical Engineering who displayed the greatest contribution towards their work.  Keep up the great work Stephen, we look forward to another win next year.

The structural and multidisciplinary systems design lab is undergoing a big expansion this spring with 4 MASc student additions to the group.  We welcome Garrett Vierhout, Neil Trivers, Michael Nucci, and Ben Blackford.  Best of luck over the next 2 years.

Special congratulations to MASc candidate Stephen Roper who received a NSERC scholarship this year!

Joining SMSD this winter is Vishrut Shah.  Vishrut has traveled from India to complete his PhD under the supervision of Dr. Kim.  We wish Vishrut the best of luck over the coming years.
